The Alocasia Red Secret, also known as the Copper Shield or Jewel Alocasia, is a beautiful houseplant prized for its velvety, dark green leaves with a striking reddish-bronze shimmer on the undersides.

Light:

• Thrives in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves.
• Low light conditions will cause the plant to stretch and become leggy.

Watering:

• Prefers consistently moist soil, but not soggy.
• Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again.
• Water less frequently in winter when the plant is dormant.
• Use warm water when watering.

Soil:

• Needs well-draining potting mix. Aroid mix or a mix of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark is a good option.

Fertilizer:

• Feed the plant monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced fertilizer diluted to half strength.

Temperature:

• Prefers warm temperatures, ideally between 60-80°F (15-27°C).
• Avoid cold drafts.

Humidity:

• Prefers high humidity levels, around 60-70%. You can increase humidity around your plant by:Misting it regularly with lukewarm water.
  Using a pebble tray filled with water.
  Grouping plants together.

Toxicity:

• Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Dormancy:

• Alocasia Red Secret may undergo a period of dormancy in winter, where it may lose some leaves. This is normal. Reduce watering and fertilizing during this time. The plant will resume growth in spring.
